Our President will share his views and expectations with the Secretary-General of the United Nations
It has been noted that certain statements by the spokesperson of the Greek Cypriot leadership regarding the bilateral meeting scheduled for 11 February 2026 between our President and the UN Secretary-General do not accurately reflect the facts.
As is known, shortly after assuming office, our President sent a letter in response to the congratulatory message from the UN Secretary-General, in which he indicated, inter alia, his intention to request a meeting with him at an appropriate time.
Given the intensive agenda related to the Cyprus issue, which has been closely followed by the public, the request was made on 2 February 2026. The Secretary-General responded promptly, and it was agreed that the bilateral meeting would be held on 11 February.
At the bilateral meeting, our President will share his views and expectations with the Secretary-General, within the framework he outlined to the public yesterday.
Mehmet Dânâ
Undersecretary of the Presidency
