First Lady Sibel Tatar speaks at the "Physiotherapy Workshop in Schools"

“Protective measures should be taken before any discomfort occurs.”

President Ersin Tatar’s spouse First Lady Sibel Tatar attended the "Physiotherapy Workshop in Schools" held at Eastern Mediterranean University.

In her speech at the workshop, First Lady Tatar expressed her happiness in attending a workshop at Eastern Mediterranean University, which is the source of pride of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Stating that the university will reach much better places in the coming days, Mrs. Tatar drew attention to the importance of applying physiotherapy in schools.

Mentioning about three separate workshops on "Family, Children and Elderly" held under the auspices of the Presidency and under the leadership of First Lady Sibel Tatar, Mrs. Tatar stated that she is waiting for the reports to be published in the Physiotherapy Workshop in Schools.

Mrs. Tatar emphasised that the reports generated in the workshops must be followed and implemented.

Noting that children and children with special needs require physiotherapists and that there is a great shortage of them in schools, First Lady Sibel Tatar said, "In the first place, full-time physiotherapists may not be assigned in all schools, but awareness can be raised by training teachers, children and families on physiotherapy."

Pointing out that technology is causing negative effects on people as it enters more into life, Mrs. Sibel Tatar stated that children in the developmental age experience problems with inactivity and inability to socialize.

First Lady pointed out that the games played in the past, in which social relations would develop and movement would increase, should be encouraged by the Ministries of Sports and Education.

Pointing out the importance of preventive methods to take precautions before discomfort occurs, Mrs. Tatar stated that raising awareness about obesity and scoliosis, especially in children and adolescents, will contribute to the quality of life.

Reminding that "Happy Children with Special Needs -Parents and Happy Children’s Parent handbooks" were prepared under the auspices of the Presidency and under the leadership of First Lady Sibel Tatar, Mrs. Tatar noted that she wanted to prepare a book in collaboration with Dr. Emirali Evcimen and EMU, explaining the importance of support services including physiotherapy and how they can benefit from these books.

First Lady Sibel Tatar congratulated those who contributed to the workshop and wished the workshop to be successful.
