As part of the official observances for 1 August Communal Resistance Day, President Ersin Tatar and First Lady Sibel Tatar attended a reception hosted by the Security Forces Command (GKK) at its headquarters.

The occasion marked three significant anniversaries in the history of the Turkish Cypriot people:  The 49th anniversary of the establishment of the Security Forces Command; the 67th anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Resistance Organisation (TMT), and the 454th anniversary of the Ottoman conquest of Cyprus.

The ceremony commenced with a moment of silence in remembrance of fallen martyrs, followed by a solemn rendition of the Turkish National Anthem.

In his address, Major General İlker Görgülü, Commander of the Security Forces, reflected on the enduring legacy of the Turkish Cypriot people's struggle for survival, sovereignty, and peace.

Participants were also presented with a documentary screening chronicling the historical journey and sacrifices made in defence of the Turkish Cypriot identity.

The evening concluded with a musical performance by the Security Forces Command Orchestra, offering a moving tribute to the spirit of resilience that has shaped the nation's path.
