The ceremony started with the laying of wreaths at the monument in accordance with the official protocol. This was followed by a moment of silence and the raising of the flags accompanied by the Turkish National Anthem.

The event concluded with the signing of the Monument’s Special Book by President Ersin Tatar and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

President Ersin Tatar wrote the following in the Special Book:

"Great Leader, Veteran Mustafa Kemal Atatürk,

Today in Cyprus, as an inseparable part of the noble Turkish nation, we are once again celebrating the anniversary of the 20 July Peace Operation with great pride and excitement.

The Turkish nation, despite all hardships, won its struggle for independence and existence through national consciousness, solidarity, sacrifice, and acts of heroism.

The long-smoldering flame of resistance of the Turkish Cypriot people was reignited by this same spirit and culminated in freedom with the Peace Operation.

The Turkish Cypriot people have always remained loyal to your principles and reforms, and with the unwavering support of Motherland Türkiye, have succeeded in preserving their future.

On this occasion, I respectfully commemorate you — the founder of the Republic of Türkiye — along with all the heroes and martyrs who took part in the 20 July Peace Operation, with gratitude and reverence. I salute our veterans.

The Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle for freedom and sovereignty will continue forever.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wrote the following message in the Special Book:

"Dear Atatürk,

Today, we proudly mark the 51st anniversary of the 20 July Cyprus Peace Operation — a victory won through the unity of our Armed Forces and the Turkish Cypriot people.

On this meaningful day, we once again honour our heroic martyrs with mercy and remember our veterans with deep gratitude.

The Turkish Nation, which has lived free since time immemorial, demonstrated to the entire world that the Turkish Cypriot people are not alone in their struggle for existence.

Today, with the unwavering and strong support of Motherland Türkiye, the Turkish Cypriot people continue confidently on the path to a bright future.
May your soul rest in peace.”
