President Ersin Tatar attended the commemoration ceremony held in Lefkoşa Cemetery for the 27th passing anniversary of Hacı İsmail Sadıkoğlu, one of the founders of the Turkish Resistance Organisation.
In his speech, President Tatar emphasised that Hacı İsmail Sadıkoğlu was a mujahideen, contributed effectively to the struggle for existence of the Turkish Resistance Organisation and the Turkish Cypriot people, guided the civil society life of our country with his entrepreneurship and love for humanity. The President expressed his condolonces to Hacı İsmail Sadıkoğlu’s family.
“If we live on these lands with dignity, freely and independently, we owe all this to patriots like Hacı İsmail Sadıkoğlu,” President Tatar said. “It is our duty to commemorate such important names, not to forget the services, and to transfer our past to the younger generation at every opportunity.
Our case continues. Our case is not over. The whole western world is still pushing us to gather under a federal roof in Cyprus. But we continue to voice with all our power that there can be an agreement with the cooperation of two separate states living side by side in Cyprus. We are against the policy of melting the Turkish Cypriots in the European Union. The Republic of Türkiye also gives full support to our politics.”
“It is a very important step for us to become a member of the Organisation of Turkic States under the name of TRNC,” said President Tatar.
