President Ersin Tatar conducts an on-site inspection of Esentepe-Karaağaç wildfire

President Ersin Tatar visited the site of the wildfire that broke out today in the Esentepe-Karaağaç region to assess the situation firsthand.

Observing the firefighting and cooling operations on the ground, President Tatar commended the rapid and dedicated response of the firefighting teams, noting that the fire was "swiftly brought under control thanks to their effective efforts". He added that cooling operations in the area were still ongoing.

President Tatar reported that the blaze affected approximately 12 dönüms of land, resulting in the destruction of 80 pine trees, 53 carob trees, and 10 olive trees. He emphasised that the fire was extinguished through the timely intervention of military units, Forestry Department, Fire Brigade, Civil Defence Organisation teams, Çatalköy-Esentepe Municipality and local residents.

Expressing his gratitude to all public institutions, local authorities, and citizens who contributed to the successful firefighting efforts, President Tatar extended his well wishes to the residents of the region.

He also called for heightened vigilance and the implementation of necessary precautions to prevent wildfires during the summer season.
