President Ersin Tatar gave medals to the winners who participated in “Birkan Uzun Summit Run”, which took place in Geçitkale Mersinlik in the memory of Birkan Uzun, who waved the flag of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on the 5 highest summits of the world.
Delivering a speech at the event, President Tatar expressed his sadness by the untimely death of Birkan Uzun and shared the deep wound of the loss and reminded that Birkan Uzun had lastly climbed the summit in Antarctica where he waved the flag of the TRNC. “He enshrined in our hearts with the speech he had on the summit and set an example to all young people for looking into the future with hope,” said the President. “The legacy of Birkan Uzun will live on and we will never forget or allow Birkan or his legacy to be forgotten”.
After his speech, the President gave the medals to the winners thanking to those who organized the event and wished that the organization becomes traditional.
