President Ersin Tatar and Greek Cypriot Leader Nicos Anastasiades mutually expressed their good wishes following the earthquake, which was recorded as being 6.4 on the Richter scale, at a depth of 13km from the coast and was felt in most of the island. Fortunately, there was no loss of life or serious damage.
They spoke about the Paphos earthquake, which occurred in 1953 with a magnitude of 6.1 and was recorded as one of the most destructive earthquakes to occur on the island of Cyprus due to the centre being on land. They mutually stated that it was a consolation that there was no loss of life or damage in the earthquake that occurred in the early hours of this morning.
