President Ersin Tatar issued a message for March 18-24 Respect for the Elderly Week: “Our elders are the building stones who pass on our national and moral values to new generations”
President Ersin Tatar has commemorated March 18-24 Respect for the Elderly Week, where he expressed his gratitude, affection, and appreciation for their services to the country.
President Tatar said in a statement:
“I pay tribute to all our elders and express my most sincere respect, gratitude and affection to them. It is our elders who raised us and prepared us for life and our future with endless love and patience. It is one of our primary duties and a fundamental part of our culture to show our gratitude and love, and to respect our elders and to keep them happy.
Our elders are the building stones who pass on our national and moral values to new generations. They are resources that shed light to the past, the present and the future, whose knowledge and experiences we should always benefit from. It is our duty to ensure that we do everything possible for our elders, who have spent the most productive years of their lives serving their country and nation and who guide us with their knowledge and experiences, who lead a peaceful life. We should always show them that we are by their side. It is one of our most important duties as the new generations. It is our moral and humanitarian responsibility to carry out good deeds for them, so that they know they are very valuable for us.
Considering that getting old is a fact of life, each individual should treat our elders with kindness, love and affection.
With these feelings and thoughts, I commemorate all our elders on March 18-24, the Week of Respect for the Elderly, and wish them all healthy, happy and peaceful long lives.”
