President Ersin Tatar issues a message of condolences and solidarity following the devastating earthquake in Marrakesh, Morocco

President Ersin Tatar has extended his condolences to the people of Morocco following the earthquake which struck Marrakesh on Friday night, killing more than 2,000 people. 


In his written message, President Tatar stated the following:


"I note with sadness that there has been a devastating earthquake in Marrakesh, Morocco, which is said to be the largest recorded in the last century in the history of the country,  measuring 7 on the Richter scale, that has resulted in the deaths of more than 2,000 people. 

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Morocco during this very difficult period, and I extend our condolences and express our solidarity as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.  

May the bereaved families and loved ones have the patience and strength to cope with their losses.  I wish those who have been injured a speedy recovery.

May Allah have mercy upon the souls of those who lost their lives, may they all rest in eternal peace."
