President Ersin Tatar issues a message on the occasion of the World Art Day
The message of President Ersin Tatar is as follows;
“Leonardo Da Vinci’s birthday, April 15th, is celebrated as the World Art Day in the TRNC as well as all over the world and attention is drawn to the role of art in social and human life.
In our country's art life, the presence of our artists, who both touch on social issues and convey the deep passages of life to us with their universal language, style and creativity, is a sine qua non of our country's intellectual world.
Our society will continue to develop its intellectual and cultural identity by strengthening its spiritual values, thanks to art, which instills the importance of social belonging to individuals, develops critical thinking and teaches humanity to look at events from a different perspective.
I would like to emphasise that I will continue to support art and artists under all circumstances, and that this is among my priorities.
As I always underline, one of the most effective ways to overcome the inhuman embargoes and restrictions imposed on Turkish Cypriots is the integrative, universal style and language of art.
The efforts of our artists, who have put their signature under qualified works on a global scale, are the promotion of our country and the embodiment of our existence in this context, I thank them all.
I congratulate the World Art Day of our artists and art lovers who work for Turkish Cypriot art and wish them well.”
