The meeting was held on Wednesday at the UN Headquarters building of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General – previously known as the “Nicosia Conference Centre”.
President Tatar, who was first to arrive prior to the Greek Cypriot Leader, was welcomed at the front of the building by Colin Stewart, Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Cyprus and Head of United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) and other UN officials.
President Ersin Tatar was accompanied by his Special Representative, Güneş Onar, whilst the Greek Cypriot Leader was accompanied by his negotiator, Menelaos Menelau.
The two leaders, who will not be able to attend the 1000th meeting of the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) at Ledra Palace later today, where Mr. Stewart will be attending, posed for photographs with CMP members prior to the meeting, to show their support for the Committee.
President Ersin Tatar will hold a press conference at the Presidency this afternoon.
