President Ersin Tatar meets with the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanıçbek Ömüraliyev

President Ersin Tatar met with the Secretary General of the Turkish States Organization (TDT), Ambassador Kubanıçbek Ömüraliyev, at the secretarial building of the Organization of Turkish States in İstanbul.
In his statement after the meeting, President Tatar recalled the TRNC’s admission as an observer member under its constitutional name at the Organization of Turkish States Summit held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan in November, and noted that since that day, Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu and himself have been trying to develop relations through various activities.
The President stated that they discussed with the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanıçbek Ömüraliyev the preparations to be made before the summit, bilateral meetings that could be held there.
President Tatar said he will attend the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of the Turkic States to be held in Ankara on Thursday.
President Tatar stated that he will return to the island tomorrow evening and will meet with United Nations Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo on Wednesday.
Mentioning the call of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his speech in New York on September 20th, that the embargoes and isolations imposed on Turkish Cypriots are an act of persecution, President Tatar said all these restrictions should be lifted gradually, starting off with the Organization of Turkish States.
Pointing out these issues are on their agenda at the discussions with the EU and other countries, President Tatar emphasised that an agreement in Cyprus can only be achieved by removing the outdated restrictions and paving the way for the Turkish Cypriots. The President pointed out that it would be in everyone's interest to be strong in the economic field, adding that the struggle will continue.
President Tatar said "I have never lost my hope that the future of the TRNC could be much brighter with its features, beauties, charm, blue and green environment, success story and potential.”
