President Ersin Tatar participates in the event marking the first anniversary of Azerbaijan’s victory in the Karabakh war

President Ersin Tatar, who was in İstanbul at the invitation of the Azerbaijan Associations Federation, participated in the "Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan" event which was organised to commemorate the first anniversary of the liberation of Karabakh from Armenian forces.
Speaking at the event attended by ministers, deputies and many high-level officials from Azerbaijan, President Ersin Tatar stated that in the TRNC all these developments in Azerbaijan are followed with great love, longing and prayers, where he added: “The victory of Azerbaijan is also ours, and the victory of the Republic of Turkey and indeed the victory of the whole Turkish world”.
The President noted that it is necessary to act with unity as they are the “sons of the same ancestry and the same nation”.
“We have to develop such a policy in order to be strong together and to be in unity as well as to act in solidarity in the future,” the President said.
Congratulating President İlham Aliyev in his speech, President Tatar said: “Azerbaijan won a great victory under his presidency. I convey our sincere happiness on the first anniversary of the victory of Azerbaijan. The suffering of oppressed nations should never be forgotten. The Turkish Cypriot people experienced persecution and oppression in Cyprus for many years.”
President Tatar stated that he studied with great pride the struggle of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk before the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey, which followed the War of Independence. “This is a great source of power and pride for the Turkish Cypriot people,” he said.
Expressing that all the way to the end the Turkish Cypriot people resisted genocide and persecution with the strength they received from the Republic of Turkey, President Tatar said that they stood against destruction and attacks by the Greeks and Greek Cypriots who planned to connect Cyprus to Greece at the expense of destroying the Turkish Cypriots.
Pointing out that the Turkish Cypriot people have managed to become a Turkish state in the eastern Mediterranean today, the President added: “We must all be united together. Our struggle should be regarded as your struggle as well. When we look at the great Turkish World, we all have aspirations and a destination of unity. It is time to be united together and to be stronger.”
TRNC needs to be protected
President Ersin Tatar said: “The TRNC, which is your honour and dignity in the eastern Mediterranean, must be protected because we are also a part of the great Turkish World. The Turkish Cypriot people are your brothers, the Turkish Cypriot people are a mujahideen people. The Turkish Cypriots fought until the end against the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo, gave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause. Today, our flags continued to be hoisted,” he said.
President Tatar continued: “This is a matter of honour and dignity for the Great Turkish nation. As I celebrate your holiday on such a day, I convey my greetings to President İlhan Aliyev. I wish him success. As the Consul General from Pakistan said, with the support of Republic of Turkey, we are one nation, three states.
“I greet you with affection and longing to become stronger united together with Azerbaijan, Republic of Turkey, TRNC and brother state Pakistan. I once again wish God’s mercy upon the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for this cause so that the great Turkish nation could be stronger. I Express my gratitude to veterans.”
Emphasising that there is need to increase economic cooperation, President Tatar said although the TRNC has some economic and diplomatic problems at the moment, the injustices, embargoes and restrictions against us were made to discourage, but added that he intends to resist all the pressures on the Turkish Cypriot people and attempts to “patch us onto the Greek Cypriots”.
Expressing that there is a need for cooperation in order to be economically strong, President Tatar added that there is a need to support the TRNC by strengthening cooperation with our brothers in Azerbaijan and Pakistan and other states of the Turkish world, especially in economic and tourism.
