“I have full confidence and trust in you all,” President Tatar said. “I wish to congratulate the members from both Sides who are in the Technical Committee on Youth, who are all intelligent and educated people. Progress can be made through mutually understanding one-another. . . to rise to the challenges concerning your area, and undertaking work to tackle the issues that affect the youth on both sides.”
President Tatar thanked Colin Stewart, Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Cyprus, for his efforts and the Greek Cypriot Leader Mr. Christodoulides for the development.
“I will ask for a reconsideration regarding the intimidation of our people on property issues”
The President, who underlined the importance of creating a culture of cooperation and “mutual trust,” expressed his strong disappointment at the developments in recent weeks with regards to intimidation of Turkish Cypriots on property issues, which he said he will be raising in the leaders meeting. “I will be raising serious concern and asking for a reconsideration to be given regarding the intensified intimidation activities targetting Turkish Cypriots that is not befitting with our efforts in the new atmosphere,” President Tatar said.
“We must learn to live together on this beautiful island in the eastern Mediterranean,” President Tatar continued, adding: “We are sadly witnessing the developments in Ukraine and Gaza. . . we can work towards creating welfare for the two sides by sharing resources and tackling the challenges.”
