President Ersin Tatar received the Balıkesir Sındırgı Mayor Ekrem Yavaş of Türkiye and accompanying delegation of Cyprus veterans.
Making a statement during the visit, President Tatar stressed that the Turkish Cypriots regained their independence following Türkiye's justified Peace Operation in 1974, which stopped the attrocities that was being committed against Turkish Cypriots. "I wish to express my gratitude in my own name and on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot people," the President stated. "I am very happy that you, as the Cyprus veterans from Sındırgı, are visiting the free and independent TRNC today".
Drawing attention to the importance of a stronger TRNC for the Republic of Türkiye which is the most powerful country in the region, President Tatar underlined the necessity of protecting our rights and laws in the eastern Mediterranean. Expressing that it is important to maintain ties between Türkiye and Turkish Cypriot people, the President conveyed his good wishes to the people of Balıkesir.
Sındırgı Mayor Ekrem Yavaş stated that the delegation from Sındırgı visited the island after 48 years and are happy to be here and he invited the President to Sındırgı.
