President Ersin Tatar receives Help Those With Cancer Association (Tulips) chairperson Raziye Kocaismail and her delegation
“Early diagnosis of cancer is very important”
President Ersin Tatar drew attention to early diagnosis of cancer whilst receiving Help Those With Cancer (Tulips) Chairperson Raziye Kocaismail and her delegation, who visited as part of commemorations of March 1-31 Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
President Tatar pointed out the importance of “carrying out regular examinations and tests” of men aged 50 and over to help them catch prostate cancer at its early stages.
“Early diagnosis of cancer is indeed very important, and all our citizens and residents should take this issue seriously without hesitation, because early diagnosis means being able to benefit from the effective treatment options available in the TRNC,” he said.
President Tatar added that “as we commemorate Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, it is important for all men aged 50 and over to have regular testing, because early diagnosis saves lives and prostate cancer is indeed treatable”.
The President paid tribute to the “hard work of Mrs. Kocaismail and to all Tulips who have immensely helped people with cancer over the course of many years through great devotion and self-sacrifice”.
“We will continue to support the efforts to fight cancer as much as we can,” he added.
Raziye Kocaismail provided information about the work of Tulips in aiding cancer patients and about Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and the activities of the association.
Expressing the problems experienced in the accessibility of medicine, both during the Covid-19 pandemic and the earthquake disaster, Mrs. Kocaismail expressed her gratitude to President Ersin Tatar and to First Lady Sibel Tatar, “who have always supported us irrespective of the circumstances,” she said.
The meeting was also attended by First Lady Sibel Tatar and Presidential Health Advisor Prof. Dr. Nedime Serakıncı.
