President Ersin Tatar receives parents, teachers and students from special education schools on the occasion of March 21 World Down Syndrome Day

President Ersin Tatar, together with First Lady Sibel Tatar, received Head of the International Down Federation TRNC Tülay Umut and the team from special education schools in the TRNC.
In his speech at the meeting, President Tatar stated that what can be done to raise awareness of down syndrome and to take care of special children and to meet their expectations is tackled on March 21 World Down Syndrome Day. Noting that this issue has always been in his area of interest, starting with the Special Education Law, President Tatar expressed his appreciation for the work of special education schools and the Ministry of National Education in this regard.
“We are ready to do whatever it takes to protect our children and it is our responsibility to provide them the life they deserve by using the opportunities in this respect,” said the President.
President Tatar also listened to speeches prepared by children from special education schools.

Following the meeting, by wearing black socks on one hand and blue on the other, the message was given that the pain experienced in the devastating earthquake on 6th February in Türkiye will not be forgotten and at the same time it is important to raise hopes.
