President Ersin Tatar speaks at 6th Serdarlı Prickly Pear (Babutsa) Culture and Arts Festival:
“We will continue to enhance production and strengthen our economy despite the unjust embargoes”

President Ersin Tatar attended the inauguration of 6th Serdarlı Prickly Pear (Babutsa) Culture and Arts Festival where he underlined the importance of festivals and the positive social and economic role they play.
The President stated that the north Mesaoria region of the TRNC is located in the Geçitkale-Serdarlı Municipality, which he said is “one of the important regions of the TRNC that has managed to preserve the culture and traditions of the Turkish Cypriot People”.
President Ersin Tatar pointed to the importance of the festival in terms of exhibiting the products of the area as well as promoting the culture and values of the region. “Making good use of science and technology in order to increase productivity and capacity and utilisation of the resources in a productive manner is important”, President Tatar said.
President Tatar noted that “farming and animal breeding is important in the area and surrounding villages,” adding that “in spite of all the unjust isolations, embargoes and restrictions, we are here, we will continue to strengthen our economy and will continue to be present to produce even more,” he said.
The President further said that following the merging of Serdarlı and Geçitkale municipalities, the area will benefit from more sustainable services, and he wished success to the mayor and council members in their services.
