President Ersin Tatar attended and observed the “Martyr Pilot Captain Cengiz Topel Mediterranean Storm – 2025” military exercise, expressing his deep satisfaction with its successful completion.

Reflecting on history, President Tatar emphasised that from the years of the National Struggle until 1974, whenever the lives and property of the Turkish Cypriot people were under threat, the Turkish soldiers (Mehmetçik) and Turkish Cypriot fighters (Mujahideen) stood shoulder to shoulder to safeguard peace and security. He underlined that today’s exercise once again demonstrated how, through an advancing national defence industry and superior training, our forces stand prepared for every eventuality.

President Tatar noted with pride that the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces and the Security Forces Command, entrusted with the security of the Turkish Cypriot people, remain ever-ready to fulfill their duties under any circumstances, in every place and at all times. “Our ability to live securely within our own borders, and the preservation of lasting peace and stability in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, we owe to our Mehmetçik and Mujahideen,” he said.

Emphasising his pride in witnessing the exercise, President Tatar extended his congratulations to all who played a part in its planning, command, and execution. He conveyed special appreciation to Chief of the General Staff, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu; Commander of the Land Forces, General Metin Tokel; Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces, Lieutenant General Sebahattin Kılınç; Commander of the Security Forces, Major General İlker Görgülü; and particularly to the Mehmetçik and Mujahideen whose dedication ensures the security of our nation.
