President Ersin Tatar to participate in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation summit being held in the Republic of The Gambia
President Ersin Tatar will today depart for the 15th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit of Heads of State and Government, to be held in Banjul, the capital of The Republic of The Gambia.
The President will address the Heads of States and Governments at the summit, where he will call upon OIC member states to end the inhuman isolation of the Turkish Cypriot People and draw attention to the ongoing obstructionist policy of the Greek Cypriot leadership.
President Tatar will also thank member states for the solidarity shown to the Turkish Cypriot People, which has been demonstrated to date.
During his address, President Tatar will also put forward his position with regards to the Cyprus issue – which was first put forward at the 5+UN informal meeting in Geneva in April 2021, and his vision for a settlement in Cyprus that is based on the equal inherent rights of the Turkish Cypriot People and the reaffirmation of their sovereign equality and equal international status, to start new and formal negotiations.
The President, who will also hold numerous meetings within the scope of the summit, will put forward his vision for a settlement in Cyprus that is based on mutual respect and peaceful co-existence and the cooperative relationship of the two States on the Island.
In addition to his high-level bilateral meetings at the summit, President Tatar will also give interviews to various press organisations and agencies.
President Ersin Tatar will be accompanied by his Special Representative, Güneş Onar, and First Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Aksoy.
