President Ersin Tatar visits the martyr's daughter Ayşe Beyoğlu at her home in Lapta, as part of a series of visits to the families of the martyrs on the occasion of December 21 Martyrs' Week
“The sacrifices by our martyrs will never be forgotten”
The President commemorated Havva Yakup Beyoğlu, who served as a nurse at the state hospital located in the Greek Cypriot side when the ‘Bloody Christmas’ attacks against the Turkish Cypriots started in 1963. She was martyred while giving birth. President Tatar expressed his sympathies and condolences to her family.
President Tatar said: “Today, we have a State and we live in peace and security. The services and sacrifices shown by our martyrs will never be forgotten. It is the State’s duty not to leave the families and relatives of the martyrs alone on these occassions.”
