Theatre that inspires social belonging and common consciousness in individuals, teaches seeing events from a different perspective by dealing with life and people with a critical manner and develops the intellectual and cultural identity of societies by strengthening the spiritual values of the society. As an art discipline, theatre transfers artistic creation to societies in the most effective way, while at the same time it brings judgement, responsibility and dept to societies with its educational power.
Theatre has a great importance in the Turkish Cypriot art world. Throughout the historical process, it has been effective in the Turkish Cypriots gaining their self-esteem and self-respect and it has led to the reflection of the cultural accumulation of the society with aesthetic power of art and the enrichment of this cultural accumulation.
As a President, who is aware of the educational power of theatre, I would like to state that I will give all necessary support to theatre and other art fields as always.
In the light of all this, I congratulate the 27 March World Theatre Day and wish best wishes to all our theatre artists who have worked for the Turkish Cypriot theatre, as well as to all the staff working in the theatres and to art lovers.
