President Ersin Tatar's written message commemorating the 99th anniversary of the 29 October Republic Day
The written message of President Ersin Tatar is as follows:
“We are celebrating with pride and great excitement the 99th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic by the Turkish Grand National Assembly, on October 29, 1923.
The proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye was the result of the epic victory in the war of independence waged against the occupation forces by the heroic Turkish nation whose sacrifices, patriotism and love for freedom and independence made it possible.
Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades in arms gifted to the Turkish nation a modern and most virtuous form of government by proclaiming the republican regime, which is not only the symbol of the sovereignty, but also the greatest level of democracy and the nation’s desire for independence.
It was through the great heroic war of independence waged under the leadership of Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades, and the sacrifice and determination of the Great Turkish nation, that paved the way to independence. The great victory and success of the Turkish nation which instilled the slogan of independence and sovereignty, has shaped the history of humanity and the world, and has become an inspiration to oppressed nations in captivity.
It has taken its place in history and has made its universal mark that has affected our recent history. As an integral part of the Turkish nation in the eastern Mediterranean, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is today commemorating with joy, pride and excitement, the 99th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye, which has an important place in the history of the Turkish Cypriots.
The Republic of Türkiye, which provides the guarantee of freedom, independence and sovereignty of the Turkish nation who wants to live freely and independently within the borders of the National pact, is also a source of inspiration for the TRNC, which is the greatest virtue achieved by the Turkish Cypriots as a result of the national struggle.
Motherland Türkiye has been and is our greatest source of guarantee and support in our struggle for existence and the assurance that the Turkish Cypriot people will live safe and happy forever. On the 99th anniversary of the 29 October Republic Day, I respectfully commemorate all the heroes of the War of Independence especially Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades: May they all rest in peace and may Allah grant them all a place in paradise.
I heartily commemorate the October 29 Republic Day of the Republic of Türkiye and wish with all my heart that our Motherland will continue the path of growth, prosperity and development forever."
