President Ersin Tatar's written statement on “Kaan” - the fifth generation fighter plane of the Republic of Türkiye, which took off on its maiden flight today
“Kaan has become a new source of pride for the Turkish nation”
President Ersin Tatar has issued a written statement on the maiden flight of “Kaan” -- the national combat aircraft of the Republic of Türkiye, where he stated that it is a source of pride for the Turkish defence industry and the entire Turkish nation.
President Tatar, who congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of the Republic of Türkiye, the Turkish Armed Forces and the Turkish nation, expressed his wish for Kaan to be of benefit to the country.
Stating that he was “proud to be witnessing the important strides and successes achieved to date by the national defence industry of the Republic of Türkiye”, President Tatar said that the country “has passed a very critical threshold towards producing the fifth-generation fighter jet”.
Stating that the National Combat Aircraft "Kaan", developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), was airborne for 13 minutes in its maiden flight, reaching a speed of 230 knots (approximately 426km/h), at an altitude of 8,000 feet, President Tatar continued: “Having spread its wings into the sky, "Kaan" will fulfil great duties in protecting the rights and interests of the Turkish nation in the air, in the Century of Türkiye, with its high-tech electronic warfare systems and advanced integrated logistics infrastructure.”
"I wholeheartedly congratulate the Turkish Aerospace Industry team that developed and produced the national combat aircraft, the Defence Industry Agency and all stakeholders of the project and everyone who contributed towards the success of this historic flight,” President Tatar said.
