President Tatar appoints Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın as the YÖDAK President

President Ersin Tatar has appointed Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın as the President of the Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation and Coordination Board (YÖDAK).

President Ersin Tatar delivered the appointment to Hocanın at the Presidency this evening.

Based on the authority granted by Article 8 of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Higher Education Law, President Tatar has appointed Prof. Dr. Hocanın as the President of YÖDAK for a period of 4 years, starting as of today.

Wishing success to Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın in his duty, President Ersin Tatar emphasised that his greatest wish is for Higher Education to be restructured effectively after the new appointment to the YÖDAK Presidency, which was vacant in the recent process.

President Ersin Tatar noted that some legal changes were on the agenda in the consultations with the Prime Minister, in cooperation with the government, and President Ersin Tatar stated that he believes Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın will make a great contribution to this process, who has both national and international experience in accreditation and management issues.

Stating that the Turkish government and YÖK will provide the necessary support to the studies to be carried out in this process, President Ersin Tatar noted that YÖDAK chaired by Aykut Hocanın will carry great responsibility.

Stating that TRNC has a great experience in higher education and has given hundreds of thousands of graduates from universities, President Ersin Tatar stated that the negativities experienced in recent weeks should be instrumental in transforming this experience into a stronger structure.

President Tatar further stated that they will closely follow the developments on the matter.
