President Ersin Tatar visited the Martyrs’ spouses Gül Gedik, Cemile Sözveren, Ayşe Kurtuluş and Emine Tuncay on the occasion of Eid al-fitr (Eid of Ramadan and wished them well on this holy period.   The President was accompanied by TRNC Society for Martyrs’ Families and Disabled War Veterans chairman Gürsel Benan during the visit. Commemorating the martyrs and wishing God’s mercy upon them, President Tatar pointed out that “a debt of gratitude is owed to the martyrs and veterans”  and emphasised that it is because of the “ultimate sacrifices made by the martyrs that we live in peace and security today”.




“THE FUTURE GENERATIONS SHOULD KNOW THE SACRIFICES MADE BY THE MARTYRS”

Noting that it is significant to visit the families of the martyrs on socially important days such as Eid, President Tatar stated that the great sacrifices made by martyrs who lost their lives in the service of their country should never be forgotten.  Expressing that the future generations should be knowledged on the sacrifices made by the martyrs, the President emphasised that it is one of the most important responsibilities to convey to the next generations what the martyrs  have done for our homeland.




LIVING IN GAZA… “WE SHOULD PROTECT OUR STATE”

President Tatar underlined that he is trying to fullfil his duty after he was elected as the President. Referring to the incidents of attacks in Gaza, President Tatar pointed out that it has once again been comprehended how important Turkey’s effective and actual guarantee is. The President stated that the State should be protected by everybody and reiterated that he will continue to work for a peaceful and secure future.




“PEOPLE’S SOVEREIGNTY IS A MUST FOR THE STATE’S PERPETUITY”

Expressing that the sovereignty of the people is the most important factor for the perpetuity of the state, President Tatar expressed his gratitude to all the families of the martyrs and made a call for unity and solidarity.

Repeating that the people owe their peace and security to the sacrifices made by the martyrs’, President Tatar drew attention to the fact that martyrs will never be forgotten.



“SOCIETIES WHO DO NOT KNOW THEIR HISTORY ARE CONDEMNED TO DISAPPEAR”

Stating that it is not possible to forget the pain of the past, President Tatar said “Societies who do   not know their history are condemned to disappear.  History dictates this.”

In their speech, the families of the martyrs’ expressed their gratitude to President Ersin Tatar for his visit with a feeling of loyalty. Stating that they are honored by President Tatar's visit, the families of the martyrs underlined that being visited by a President for the first time has made them very happy.
