Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye Fuat Oktay, who gave a phone call to President Tatar, expressed his disappointment over the Greek and Greek Cypriot student’s attack to President Tatar’s convoy in London.
Following the attack attempt by Greek and Greek Cypriot students, support from all circles has been given to President Tatar, who was in King’s College in London to give a conference upon the invitation of Turkish students. Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye Fuat Oktay giving a call to President Tatar, expressed his disappointment and emphasised the support of the Republic of Türkiye. President Tatar extended his thanks to Oktay for the support.
President Tatar described the action against him as "unseemly", stressing that such actions cannot intimidate him and that he will continue to voice the new policy on every platform.
Noting that the young people carrying the Greek flag were protesting him and shouting slogans, President Tatar said the protest was very ugly and unseemly in such university environment.
Stating that such actions at a university are an indication that there could be no agreement with the Greek Cypriots in this age, President Tatar underlined that he will defend the new policy to the very end. He noted that worse things could have happened if necessary security measures were not taken. "We will continue our fight to the very end," the President added.
