President Ersin Tatar underlined the importance of making use the close geographic location of the TRNC and Türkiye and said “sea transportation is a good alternative” for people wishing to travel between TRNC and Türkiye.
The President, who travelled to Türkiye’s Taşucu port after having departed from Girne on a ferry, underlined the importance of making use of sea travel to and from the TRNC, in an interview with the TAK News Agency.
“I am very happy to be travelling to Motherland Türkiye together with members of the public with sea transportation which is a very good alternative method of travel to and from our country,” the President said.
Stating that there is an opportunity to travel to and from the TRNC, which is located just under 40 miles away from the coast of Türkiye, through sea and air travel, the President said two weekly ferry services between Girne and Hatay’s İskenderun port are also in operation.
“I hope that we will soon witness the commencement of ferry services to include the port of Gazimağusa,” the President said, adding: “The social, economic and cultural relations are being further strengthened between the people of the TRNC and Türkiye, which can also be attributed to the increase in sea and air travel.”
